What is the difference between scaffolding in construction vs scaffolding in education?
There is a lot of confusion when people hear the term “scaffolding”. In education, it refers to multiple instructional strategies a teacher uses to move students towards a stronger understanding and improved independence in the learning process. Think of it as temporary support a teacher uses to help a student acquire the skills they need to achieve a higher level of comprehension.
The same is true of scaffolding, in that they are both “temporary support”. In construction, scaffolding is a temporary platform to support workers and materials working on a construction site.
