Can I use ladders instead of scaffolding?
Since scaffolding has a more stable triangular or square base and is placed flush to the floor, it is much safer for use than ladders. Unlike scaffolding, ladders are propped up against the wall or buildings and aren’t as safe or reliable. In addition, scaffolding provides more space to work from rather than a narrow step on a ladder. To ensure safety with ladders, another person is often needed to hold them in place which is not required with scaffolding so that more work can be accomplished in a shorter period of time.
